My Experience
For over 20 years, I’ve worked in the fields of teacher and leadership preparation. I’m a developmental psychologist and my research investigates the impact of developmentally and culturally responsive teaching on school communities. My research has been published in both psychological and educational journals. As an expert in the field of child and adolescent development, I’ve served as an educational consultant to school districts, state agencies, and non-profit organizations including the New York State Department of Education, the New York City Department of Education, the Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery Central School District, the Lakeland Central School District, the Valley Central School District, the Highland Central School District, the Dutchess County Board of Cooperative Educational Services, the Orange-Ulster Board of Cooperative Educational Services, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Studies, the Boys Club of America, Harlem Center for Education, Inc., Prep for Prep, City Year, Inc., Roundabout Theatre Company, and the Arthur Miller Foundation.
At the heart of everything that I do is the fact that I’m a dedicated educator and I’ve spent my professional career in service to P-12 public education. I’ve had the privilege of being recognized for my teaching by receiving Hunter College’s Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching as well as the Hunter College School of Education’s Harold Ladas Award for Excellence in Teaching. I am also a past recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Association for Equality and Excellence in Education, Inc.
I currently serve on the Board of Directors of City Year New York, Inc., the Roundabout Theatre Company, and Harlem Center for Education, Inc.
